Being A State Officer

Did you ever wonder what exactly it means to be a state officer for Georgia DeMolay? Everyone always sees the officers dressed up at all of our state functions wearing their gold collars and getting a lot of attention, but what else do they really do? The answer is plenty. Aside from writing articles for the Word of the Day, attending state officer meetings, visiting chapters, helping to implement the SMC's programs for the year, and speaking to various lodges about DeMolay sponsorship, there are still a lot of things done by your State Officers. They must take time off from school and their social lives, and do things that aren't readily apparent to the average member, advisor, or parent in Georgia DeMolay. Below are photos from a few of the activities that your State Officers have attended so far this year, and remember the year is not even half over yet!

Hasan Shrine visit of the Imperial potentate, October 20.

The 3 state councilors and State Sweetheart attend the visit of Dad Frevel to Hasan Shrine in Albany continuing our efforts to reactivate Albany Chapter.

The Georgia delegation at the Region 3 meeting in Chattanooga on October 23-24.

Grand Lodge on October 26.

The State Officers served peach cobbler to the Masons attending the Grand Lodge Farmers Market picnic. This is the second year they have done this, and it has gone a long way to improve DeMolay-Masonic relations in Georgia. Earlier that day the three councilors and State Sweetheart also manned a booth in the registration area of Grand Lodge, greeting old friends and informing the Masons of our State about DeMolay.

Please note that all of these activities occurred within a two week period of time and were held in very different locations. The presence of your State Officers at these functions required dedication, commitment, and planning on their parts to be able to attend. Please remember that these young men are all still active in their own chapters, often filling leadership positions there too.
