Georgia DeMolay Mourns A Long Time Friend


    GA - Martha Cheves D'Anna was the daughter of Cecil Cheves and Martha Penelton Nelson. She was a very devoted member of the Cecil Cheves Chapter, Order of DeMiolay's Mother Club, serving as its President as well as serving two terms as State President of the State Mothers Club of the Associated DeMolay Chapters of Georgia.The Executive Officer of Georgia during her tenure as State President of the Mothers Club was Dad Norman W. Pettys. Her oldest son now deceased was a Senior Member of Cecil Cheves Chapter, and her youngest son, Hugh S. D'Anna, III and only grandson Hugh S. D'Anna, IV are both PMC's from Cecil Cheves Chapter. Her only granddaughter, Heather E. D'Anna, is a past Chapter Sweetheart for Cecil Cheves Chapter. She served as a Chaprarone for several Cecil Cheves Chapter Sweethearts. It was dueing her tenure as President of the Chapters Mothers Club that the Henry L. Brown Memorial Trophy Room was built on the 3-1/2 floor of the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. While State President of the State Mothers Club at the 1971 Georgia State Conclave, the Ohio State Priory came to institute the Order of Knighthood in the State of Georgia, and they presented her a Pin from the Ohio State Priory, Order of Knighthood and perfromed the Rose Talk, It was also during her tenure as State President that the State Mothers Club presented the Associated DeMolay Chapters of Georgia with a hand made DeMolay Flag that was made by a member of the Cecil Cheves Chapters Mothers Club. There was two such flags made, one was given to the State Association and one was given to Cecil Cheves Chapter. She was active in the Mothers Club even before her sons became DeMolays, and never lost her love and devotion for the Order.

    She died on Friday, July 7, 2006 and will be buried on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 in the Cheves Family Lot between her son and her husband.
