Clayton Chapter Holds Majority Service

HAMPTON, GA - When Senior DeMolay Brian Eidson received orders from the Army to report to Fort Benning for training before being sent on a tour of duty to Iraq, the most dangerous hot spot in the world, he wanted very much to receive his DeMolay Majority Service before he left the country. The only problem was that there was little time to prepare and he had made a pact with four of his DeMolay brothers not to receive his Majority Service without them. He called Michael Griggers, Master Councilor of Clayton Chapter and asked him to do what he could. Michael went to work, and with the help of the State Master Councilor, Geoff Bard, his brother Peter, Stephen Bohn and Brandon Derifield the event was on. Quick calls to the others that had agreed not to receive their Majority Service without Brian confirmed that they did not want their DeMolay Brother to leave for Iraq without receiving his wish. Fellow DeMolays Alex Williams of Clayton Chapter, and Justin Nobles, Adam Fowler and Marcos De Los Santos of Samual S. Lawrence Chapter all joined him to bid a final farewell as active members of DeMolay.

It was a moving event that was well attended. Mom Griggers had a special red, white and blue cake made up for Brian. The State Executive Officer, Marc Bohn was on hand to wish Brian God speed and congratulate all the new Senior DeMolays for their accomplishments as active DeMolays. Clayton Chapter Dad Larry Griggers noted that these were some very special DeMolays with long distinguished careers. Justin Nobles was a Past State Master Councilor, Alex Williams, Brian Eidson and Adam Fowler were each a Past Illustrious Knight Commander. Marcos had served as a State Officer as well. All were Past Master Councilors and true leaders of the fraternity.

Michael Griggers performed the Master Councilor's role for the Majority Service, Peter Bard did the Senior Councilor, Geoff Bard did the Junior Councilor, Brandon Derifield did the Chaplain and Stephen Bohn did the Marshall. It was a great event and a fitting tribute to these very influential DeMolays.

Dad Bohn said, "They have left behind some very big shoes to fill." He challenged the other DeMolays in attendance to follow their lead and leave their indelible mark on DeMolay.
