Eells Installed as Georgia State Master Councilor, Named DeMolay of the Year
MARIETTA, GA - At the annual Conclave of the Associated DeMolay Chapters of Georgia, held the weekend of July 26-29 on the campus of Southern Polytechnic State University, Richard W. Eells, II, was installed as the Georgia State Master Councilor. He will lead the state association, made up of thirteen chapters and over 200 active members, for the next twelve months. At the Conclave Grand Banquet, Eells was also named DeMolay of the Year.
Eells' plans for the upcoming year include a focus on membership and communication. The membership plan is called "Remember the Member." Eells stated, "If you make the current members excited and involved in their Chapter and the community, new members will be easy to recruit." Eells implemented a similar program at Mountain Park Chapter with great success. During his six-month term as Master Councilor of the chapter, ten new members were initiated for a net positive growth of six members.
Eells' communication program is based on creating effective, coordinated, and comprehensive communication throughout the state. The foundation of the communication program is the Georgia DeMolay Online web site. In addition, Eells has the goal of airing DeMolay advertisements on local television and radio stations.
At state events, Eells wants to "spice it up" with more entertaining ritual, including music and sound effects. There will also be theme-oriented events at each state function, such as chariot races at Spring Jam.
Eells' theme for his term is "Carpe Diem," which is Latin for "Seize the Day." His term colors are blue blitz and metallic silver. His fun icon is Bugs Bunny, and the term theme song is "Seize the Day" from Newsies the Musical.

Eells receives the State Master Councilor's collar during the installation ceremony.
