Numerous Honors and Awards Bestowed at Conclave 2007
MARIETTA, GA - On the weekend of July 26-29, Georgia DeMolay held its statewide convention at Southern Polytechnic State University. This was the first time Conclave has been held at this location, and attendees enjoyed activities like a day at Six Flags and a shaving cream fight.
Geoffrey S. Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter concluded his term as State Master Councilor, and his successor, Richard W. Eells, II, of Mountain Park Chapter, was elected and installed as the 2007-2008 State Master Councilor. In addition, Khrystle C. Rader of Peachtree City and Mountain Park Chapters was named the new State Sweetheart and was crowned. Eells was also named the Georgia DeMolay of the Year. Dad Jim Stovall of Mountain Park Chapter was inducted into the Guild of the Leather Apron as Georgia DeMolay's 2007 Advisor of the Year. Several Chapter of Excellence Awards were given, including two at the overall silver level to Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter and Peachtree City Chapter. Albany Chapter was awarded Chapter of Excellence in membership, and Peachtree City Chapter was awarded Chapter of Excellence in Program Planning and Execution. The 2006-2007 State Officers also awarded the Most Improved Chapter Award to Peachtree City Chapter.
The coveted Spirit Can, awarded for the chapter with the most enthusiasm and excitement, was given to Mountain Park Chapter. Peachtree City's Parents Club was awarded First Place in the Scrapbook competition. Peachtree City also took home the Traveling Gavel, given to the chapter with the highest percentage of its membership attending, while Clayton Chapter took home the Gold Brick, given to the chapter who registered for Conclave last.
On Friday evening of Conclave, several individuals were recognized for their outstanding service to DeMolay. The Legion of Honor, the highest honor in DeMolay, was given to Dads Donald Combs, Skip Mason, Charles Pruett, and Hugh Watson. Chevalier, the highest honor bestowed on an active DeMolay, was given to Sean Combs, but he is currently on active military duty and was unable to attend. Dad Clyde Griffin was awarded the Cross of Honor, the highest honor given to a DeMolay Advisor. He was unable to attend to receive this award. The Grand Master of Masons in Georgia, MWB Eli Stafford received an honorary membership in the International Supreme Council. Dad Skip Mason received the Zerubbabel Key, an award given to a member or advisor who is responsible for starting a new Chapter. Dad Mason received this award for his efforts in starting Peachtree City Chapter, which received its Letters Temporary this year. Mom Sue Stovall of Mountain Park Chapter received a Medal of Appreciation for her work with the State Parents Club. Fifty-year alumni pins were awarded to Dad Charles Pruett and William Marsh. Paul Hunt of Mountain Park Chapter and Arthur Hall of Columbus Chapter were awarded the Founder's Membership Award for being first-line signer on five petitions of new members to join DeMolay.

State Chapter Dad Jim Stovall is named Advisor of the Year.
