Georgia DeMolay Raises Money at NASCAR Weekend
HAMPTON, GA - Georgia DeMolay once again provided security at the October NASCAR
race in order to raise funds for its operating budget next year. Despite being short a few
workers, all positions were covered due to the hard working volunteers. The NASCAR fund raiser
is a semi-annual event that takes place in the months of March and October. In addition to raising
funds for the state budget, proceeds are also used to offset the cost of Conclave. Chapters
providing volunteers also receive a share of the proceeds for their volunteers' hard work.
The race provides an opportunity for DeMolays to interact with the public and spend some quality time
together. Shifts were altered this year and extended to 12 hours long instead of eight. This change
allowed all shifts to be covered and reduce the liklihood of volunteers working a double eight-hour shift.
