Eells Concludes Successful Term as International Master Councilor
KANSAS CITY, MO - Over 600 brothers, leaders, advisors, and DeMolay supporters gathered
recently to mark the 90th anniversary of the Order of DeMolay, in the city
where DeMolay began, Kansas City, Missouri, during the 2009 International
Supreme Council and International DeMolay Congress session.
This year's session returned to Kansas City to mark DeMolay's 90th
anniversary. The city's Westin Crown Center hotel served as the host
location, and members had the opportunity to visit noted DeMolay historical
sites throughout the city.
Leading the Congress business sessions was Georgia's own Richard Eells,
42nd International Master Councilor. Eells was elected at the 2008 session
and has served faithfully in his position, traveling across the United
States and throughout the world for the good of the Order. Georgia remained
in the spotlight throughout the sessions, as State Master Councilor and
Region III Congress Cabinet Member Todd Stovall served as Congress
Marshal, while Mountain Park chapter member Alan Moore served as Congress
Chaplain.
The annual session brings with it the election of new Congress officers for
the coming year. Georgia's own Christopher Benedetti of Peachtree City
Chapter was elected as the new Region III Cabinet Member. Chris is
currently serving as the Illustrious Knight Commander for the State Priory
of Georgia. Over the next year, he will work with his fellow cabinet
officers, Congress delegates, and International Supreme Council members to
accomplish action items set forth by the Congress in Kansas City. Northern California's
Benjamin Turconi was elected International Master Councilor, and Oklahoma's
Jayme Jordan was elected International Congress Secretary.
Dad Robert Cockerham of Missouri was installed as Grand Master.
Of significant importance was the election of Georgia's Dad Dana Schwarz to
active member status on the International Supreme Council. With this
election, Dad Schwarz now has additional responsibilities and powers to help
further and advance our organization. He has served faithfully as a Deputy
ISC member for many years.
Georgia was certain to have top-notch representation in the Congress session
as well. State Senior Councilor Michael Benedetti and State Chaplain
Christopher Somers were appointed as the state's voting delegates for the
week, and constantly added insightful thoughts and ideas to the body's
deliberations.
