Conclave 2001 PhotosSweetheart CompetitionBeing the State Sweetheart is great honor as well as fun, what with hundreds of DeMolay guys as fans and staunch supporters. The competition was tough and the voting was difficult as five Chapter Sweethearts vied for the top spot.
Outgoing State Sweetheart, Jodie Bennett, did an excellent job of arranging the sweetheart competition. Jodie did an incredible job as State Sweetheart, traveling all over the state to show her support for the guys. She would be leaving some mighty big shoes for her successor to fill.
Augusta Chapter Sweetheart, Dawn Human, read a nighttime fairy tail she had personally composed for the guys, however, not a single DeMolay fell asleep!
Cecil Cheves Chapter Sweetheart, Heather D'Anna, delights the guys with a dance routine she had personally created.
Don R. Roberts Chapter Sweetheart, Lisa Fulton, sang a song, accompanied by State Chaplain, Jonathan Snyder.
Middle Georgia Sweetheart, Francesca Riley, performed an entertaining routine where she was feigning sickness until she learned that it was a Saturday, when she experienced a remarkable recovery!
Samuel S. Lawrence Sweetheart, Brittany Boynton, displayed her artistic and storytelling skills by painting a scene depicting some of the honored symbols dear to all DeMolays.
Excitement filled the air during the balloting! Cheers rang out. The contestants returned a spirit cheer sent to them by the guys. "We've got spirit, yes we do. We've got spirit, how about you?" The sweethearts showed they had plenty of spirit. The sweetheart selected to represent Georgia DeMolay for 2001-2002 would be announced at the Saturday night banquet.
