Conclave 2002 PhotosThe power shifts to a new slate of officers .....
One of the toughest things to do in DeMolay is for an outgoing state officer to lay the jewel of their office on the altar. The finality of this occasion shows in State Marshal Perry Bennett's face. It signifies the end of a year of great responsibility and high undertakings. The hardest part, however, is that it signifies that the team members you have worked with for twelve months have done their job and are now disbanded. The one solace is that the friendships that were formed will last a lifetime and the memories of the good times will be with you forever.
Adam Fowler, who was too ill to attend the opening ceremony, finds the strength to bravely attend to this important and symbolic function that marks the end of his year as State Senior Deacon.
Symbolic of the strong relationships that will form between them, the new state officers assemble behind the altar as a group to be installed together. A new leadership team is forming.
And so the responsibility and authority for leading Georgia DeMolay forward in the coming year is solemnly transferred from outgoing State Master Councilor Justin Nobles to the incoming State Master Councilor, Mike Riley.
Past State Master Councilors Justin Nobles, Adam Roof, Gary Vinson, Jr. and Bill Carver place the collar around Mike Riley's neck as he rises from bended knee as the new State Master Councilor of the Associated DeMolay Chapters of Georgia.
Mike is visibly moved by the gravity of the new high honor that has been given to him by his fellow DeMolays ... that of being elevated to the highest station among them.
Chris Eells receives the collar of his office as State Senior Councilor.
Jack Moody was an Advisor and staunch supporter of Cecil Cheves Chapter till his untimely death earlier this year. Everyone at the Installation felt the presence of Dad Moody in the auditorium smiling proudly down as his son Jackie was installed as State Junior Councilor.
One by one the newly appointed officers were elevated from the ranks of their fellow DeMolays to assume the greater duty of state leadership for the ensuing year. Gary proclaims the officers duly installed and the transition of power is complete.
As a final order of business, Gary Vinson, Sr. is installed as the State Chapter Dad. New adventures and challenges await this distinguished team of officers and everyone was confident that they were up to the task.
