Tournament of Champions 2008 PhotosWith the competition over and a good dinner in everyone's stomach, it's time to announce the winners of this year's Tournament of Champions!
James Hawkins of Mountain Park Chapter takes home top honors in the Senior Deacon, Initiatory Degree. Peter Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter follows in suit in the Championship Level.
The Nichols brothers of Peachtree City Chapter take home the first two Preceptors, with Greg taking First Preceptor and Michael taking Second Preceptor.
Two Mountain Park Chapter members win the Fourth and Fifth Preceptor competition: Nicholas Bohn takes Fourth Preceptor and James Hawkins takes Fifth Preceptor.
Hunter Sullivan of Peachtree City Chapter takes top honors in the Seventh Preceptor competition, while Peter Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter wins the competition for All Seven Preceptors (Championship Level).
Flower Talk was a hotly contested battle in the Championship Level. Todd Stovall of Mountain Park Chapter took 2nd place honors with Geoff Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter taking the top prize.
Ceremony of Light was also well-contested with Hunter Sullivan of Peachtree City winning first prize. Geoff Bard of Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter took first place in the Championship Level.
Mountain Park Chapter swept the 9 O'Clock Interpolation competition, taking the top prize in both the Regular and Championship Levels. The team of Alex Jinks and Zach Ford won the regular competition while Richard Eells and Todd Stovall won the Championship Level.
Samuel S. Lawrence Chapter again won the DeMolay Degree, 4th Section competition. This is the fifth year in a row that the Chapter has taken top honors in this competition.
DeMolay Degree, 1st and 3rd Sections was contested this year after a two-year absence. The team of Samuel S. Lawrence and Peachtree City Chapters won.
Chapter Proficiency is one of the most coveted team competitions at Tournament of Champions. Georgia's newest chapter, Peachtree City Chapter, took 2nd place honors in the competition.
Mountain Park Chapter won the top prize in Chapter Proficiency for the fourth consecutive year. This marks the eighth time Mountain Park Chapter has won this competition in its 18 years of existence.
The Rookie of the Year award is the most anticipated of the evening, honoring the top new member in the state for the year. Columbus Chapter's Chris Schulenberg took home the always hotly-contested prize in this competition.
"Mad Dog" Bohn the Bounty Hunter stopped by at TOC to remind members that he's still looking for new candidates to join DeMolay. The bounties have been increased this year. With the new 88 in '08 membership program, a bounty of $300 will be paid to the top first line signer for the year!
Also at the Tournament is the Knighthood Priory's annual business meeting and election. Paul Hunt of Mountain Park Chapter was elected Illustrious Knight Commander for the next year.
State Master Councilor Richard Eells and State Senior Councilor Todd Stovall congratulate Paul on his election.
