Georgia DeMolay Connections
October 2007
Advisor’s Retreat and Conference
Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
The Advisor’s Retreat and Conference has been scheduled for February 23, 2008. The agenda will center around giving the advisors an update from each of the Directors on the EOSC. Each Director will lead discussions pertaining to their area of responsibility. Since the agenda has not been completely laid out, you have an opportunity to add items that you would like to discuss with advisors from around the state and the Executive Officer. Rusty Newport is organizing this event, so please send him an e-mail at rnewport@gademolay.org and give him your agenda topics.
This is going to be a fun week-end so please bring your wives or significant other. A fun activity will be planned for them during the meeting time.
All registered Georgia DeMolay Advisors are invited and encouraged to attend.

The membership in the George Washington Alumni Chapter has swelled to over 160.  Our last class was initiated at the Rock Quarry event on August 25th in Morganton, GA.  The next opportunity to join will be October 13th at the Atlanta Masonic Center recognizing the 700th Anniversary (to the day) of the arrest of Jacques DeMolay and the destruction of the Knights Templar.

A new pin recognizing our Honorary Senior DeMolays as members of the George Washington Chapter has recently been released for sale.  If you don’t have yours yet, please send an e-mail to Jim Bard at jbard@gademolay.org to place your order.  They’re only $5.

Our Director of Masonic Relations and the Alumni Association - Larry Griggers, is in the process of organizing an event for our Alumni Association members including our George Washington Chapter members.  Date, time, and place are yet to be determined, but knowing Larry—this will be something you won’t want to miss.  If you have suggestions, don’t hesitate to send Larry and e-mail at lgriggers@gademolay.org

The chart to the right shows the number of new members each chapter has brought into Georgia DeMolay from January 1 to September 10, 2007 as reported to DeMolay International.
The “2007 Majorities” column shows the number of majorities for each chapter for the entire 2007 year.
Chapters shown in green are already showing positive growth for the 2007 year.
Don R. Roberts Chapter initiated 7 new DeMolays on September 22, 2007. These are to be the seed members to a new chapter that is forming in Waycross, GA. There is still 1 more member to be initiated and it is reported that there are 5 more petitions ready to go. WOW - what a start! These new members will be reported on our charts in the next issue.

Brother Eli A. Stafford, Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Georgia was recognized for his service to Georgia DeMolay by being elevated to Honorary Membership in the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay.  The solemn ceremony was conducted during Honors Night at the Georgia DeMolay 2007 Conclave held in Marietta, GA on July 27th.  The members and adult volunteers of Georgia DeMolay could not be more proud of MWB Stafford nor more thankful for his love and support of the Order.

MWB Eli A. Stafford receives his obligation as he is elevated to Honorary Member of the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay. Overlooking are other members of the Supreme Council who assisted in the elevation.

Potential New Chapter
It has been reported that a new chapter may be developing in Waycross, GA. Dad Ed Roden has already received petitions from 5 young men that wish to become members. He has been promised at least 3 more petitions—possibly 5 more. Just as exciting is that 6 Master Masons have stepped up to the plate to be trained and registered as advisors. That’s a great start!
Best of luck to everyone involved.
If you would like to be involved in this new chapter, please contact Dad Ed Roden at eroden@gademolay.org or Dad Skip Mason at smason@gademolay.org.
